Welcome to Freshwater Bikes!

For those seeking recreation and meaningful exercise, Freshwater Bikes provide both fun and well-rounded workouts.

No Boundaries.

Now you can ride on water. This is the biggest biking innovation in a decade. Freshwater Bikes offer whole-body exercise for upper body, legs and core. And since it’s easy to balance at low speeds or even when treading water, riders are free to choose the pace that they wish.

Riding a Freshwater Bike feels like riding any other bike–with the same intuitive balance and steering. If you are accustomed to riding bikes, you’re ready to go.

The patented design allows for tight turns and quick acceleration. It cuts through the water and is stable in wind and waves, making for a fun and exciting riding experience.

Jump on from any dock or shore. Climbing aboard from deep water is also a simple matter with no special skills required.

“Fresh” because it is a whole new market category.

These are not yet in production. A future manufacturer may choose to include an integral frame for the rider which is built into the watercraft, or provide a standard bike frame with handlebars, seat/seatpost and drive train. Other bicycle components like brakes, shifters and wheels are not needed.

Of course, customers may wish to use a favorite bike that they already own. Re-purposing a portion of the 12 to 15 million bicycles sold in the United States each year is a worthy goal.

Prototypes are fitted with adjustable attachment points to accommodate bikes of different sizes. It is simple to remove the bike and separate the two hull sections for transport.

Head and shoulders above the rest.

Canoes, kayaks and paddle boards have many of the same design limitations as the earliest boats made thousands of years ago: long rigid keels, steering from the back end, and reliance on a low center of gravity to stay upright.
Many paddle-sport enthusiasts love the significantly higher seating position and intuitive turning on a Freshwater Bike.

The eco-friendly, sustainable PWC. Each craft is built from durable, recyclable materials. Hulls are high density polyethylene with 6061 aluminum components. The outdrive propeller unit uses inexpensive waterproof bearings which are rated for literally millions of rotations. Belts and bearings are easily accessible for adjustment or replacement.

--

Like a mono hull with a twist. The articulated hull actually twists with every turn, augmenting the natural forces which allow a bike rider to maintain balance. Treading water and even going in reverse are no problem.

Not last generation’s pedal boat.
Pedal boats were intended to be a fun, easy way to get out on the water, but the old ones were slow moving and difficult to maneuver. As a result, the industry never reached its potential market.
Traditional pedal/paddle boats use dual, parallel hulls which produce roughly 150% of the drag of a single-hulled craft. Parallel hulls push two separate bow waves and create drag at each stern. Freshwater Bikes avoid these limitations by using two in-line hull segments which fit tightly together, acting like a bendable, single hull.

“Fresh” because . . . this is not an expensive hydrofoil or electric assist water bike. It is a totally new design which is both affordable and lightweight. And the high profile of a Freshwater Bike helps other boats see you from a safe distance.
